I have the first version of the Vampire Outlaw cover now done.
I think it will need a few tweaks. The title bevel needs to be reduced. The bloodstain behind the arrowhead needs to be moved so you can see the shape of the arrow.
What do you think? Does this make you want to read this book?
Does it say “action packed historical fiction about Robin Hood and vampires and battles and sword fights”?
If the cover is to convey all of that, it’s not there yet. Is Robin Hood fighting vampires? If the tree is indicative of where Robin Hood hides to hunt vampires, perhaps there is a shadow of someone hiding in the tree in a hunter’s crouch with bow posed. This could imply Robin Hood and vampire hunting. I like the deep reds darkening the atmosphere around the tree implying blood, but not literal blood stains free floating in the atmosphere over the image of a tree. Why the tree is my biggest question.
Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it!
