A quick writing update, to let you know what I’m up to.
I am very pleased to say that on Friday I finished the first draft of Vampire Heretic: the Immortal Knight Chronicles Book 5.
The writing has gone very well and all the plotting came together quite nicely.
This is the quickest I have written a draft since the first two books, which I wrote in a kind of mad fury.
I have written about 5,000 words every week day since the start of October, which for me is bloody good going.
Next comes the stage that is technically known as the “make it good bit”. I am looking forward to this phase.
The story takes place in France in the middle of the 15th century. There was of course a big hint at the end of Vampire Knight on what this next book will be about but I don’t want to spoil it too much for anyone who hasn’t got there yet.
I must say, even for this series, it is rather dark.
But lots of fun, too, I hope.
I think fans of the series will love it.
Since Friday, I have taken three whole days off to work on my office. I write in a purpose built cabin, and since the temperature has dropped, I decided to insulate my cabin door and the window shutters.
I am now ready for winter.
Well, almost. I need more rugs on the floor…
I also, finally, put up shelving around three walls so my books are finally where they belong rather than in stacks and in boxes behind me.
All that remains to make my office perfect is a small couch, which I will sort out soon.
And, in spring, I will build myself the perfect, L-shaped desk.
In the meantime, over the next couple of weeks, I will write the next draft of Vampire Heretic. Then it will be edited, proofed, and published in December.
In time for Christmas!
In the next few weeks, I will also release a box set of the first 3 books in this series. More on that later.
Finally – what do you think of the new cover? Do you like it?
Vampire Heretic, 5th Installment of the Immortal Knight Chronicles.
Again, all I can say is WOW! The way Dan incorporates factual historical lore with an accuracy that is amazing. The Immortal Knight’s first person telling of events gives a chillingly accurate portrayal of history with a twist. Love all 5 books and am waiting for #6, where vampires come out of the shadows, say hello to Vlad the Impaler or as we know him, Drakul, Dracula.
Thanks Dan for a fantastic series, keep them coming!
Thanks so much, James! Really pleased to hear that! I am looking forward to writing book 6. And the others! Cheers 🙂
