I’ve been reading and enjoying your Immortal Knight books. I’m curious how you came to use Jocelyn as a name for a male character. Was there an historical or personal significance for you? Again, just curious. Big props to you for having the ability to kill off secondary characters. Many authors seem reticent to kill their secondary characters, relegating death to tertiary characters, primarily. Nice job!
Hi, thanks very much for your comment, so glad you are enjoying the stories. Jocelyn was exclusively a man’s name throughout the middle ages and was quite a common one. It was only more recently when it became a woman’s name. It was initially French, the name may derive from a place called Josselin in Brittany, France, and was introduced to England after the Norman Conquest. It was especially common during the time of the first two books and there were a number of crusader lords named Jocelyn. And yes it is very hard to kill off beloved characters but I think it is necessary to do so for various reasons. Thanks again!
